EVART — When community pride, school spirit and the Musicale free concert series mix, the annual Wildcat Block Party takes shape and closes out the summer on a high note.

"It's a fun time, there are lots of things happening," said Evart Downtown Development Authority Director Al Weinberg.

The event will take place from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28, on Main Street. The street will be blocked off to accommodate those attending, food offerings, musical entertainment, a climbing wall provided by SpringHill Camps and organizations, clubs and more from Evart Public Schools.

"What's cool is the event gives the schools a chance to brag about themselves and showcase what they offer," Weinberg said. "It's the academic side, but also the extracurriculars."

In addition, event-goers will have the chance to win an iPad from Members First Credit Union. To win, children and adults must obtain a special passport and visit the stations listed on the passport. Once they have collected the stamps they needed, they can be registered for the drawing.

The block party also precedes the first varsity football game of the year, which gives families an opportunity to watch the game following the event.
