Bike safety course set for May 21
The Evart Police Department is hosting a bicycle safety course on Saturday, May 21, 2011 in sponsorship with the Evart Moose Lodge. The event will take place in the lodge’s parking lot located at 8400 E. US10, which will be constructed into a bicycle safety obstacle course.
Bicycle safety education is a practical means for teaching young children basic skills of safety. A bicycle is often a child’s first means of independent transportation. Parents, grandparents, or care takers are encouraged to bring their children to participate in this free event that will emphasize safe bike riding techniques, bicycle pre-checks, as well as the prevention of bicycle theft.
Officers will be available for questions or concerns at the event as well as issuing bike registration forms and safety inspections.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The Evart Police Department is hoping to have a large turnout for the fourth annual community event. The event is geared towards children between the ages of 4-12 years old. The Liberty Dairy and the Evart Area Chamber of Commerce have donated four bikes that will be up for raffle.
At the conclusion of the event, food and drinks will be provided by the following sponsors: The Liberty Dairy, Fosters Supermarket and The Moose Lodge.
Any questions or concerns can be addressed to the Evart Police Department at 231-734-5911. Participation requires the child to bring a bicycle.
