There were plenty of bucks bagged by hunters throughout the Osceola County area as Opening Day broke early and the shooting began right on time. In the annual Evart Chamber of Commerce Big Buck Contest, facilitated by the Evart Masonic Lodge, the first buck to be measured was brought in before 9 a.m. As the Osceola Edition went to press, Corey Campbell was leading the pack with an impressive 8-point buck with a 18+ inch spread. Also bringing in a good sized buck was Alex Bengry who entered this excellent buck with 7 full points and a spread well over 17 inches. It was Alex’s first buck ever. There was more contest to go, so the leader board may change. Out at Schmidty’s Buck Pole, there were a good number of bucks hanging for admires on U.S. 10 to see and enjoy. All in all — a great start to what folks expect will be a successful season.
