Beating the heat for a good cause
REED CITY — Summer weather is finally here and not much is more refreshing on a summer day than lemonade.
Students at GT Norman Elementary School lined up at recess to buy glasses of the drink to not only beat the beat, but support an important cause. Students in Pam Bloom’s class hosted thestand to raise money to give to St. Jude’s Hospital for the treatment and prevention of childhood cancer. With children in their own school who have battled cancer, the cause hits close to home.
"I have a very close friend who is struggling with cancer," said a student. "It hurts me every day to know she is going through this. If we can all help just by doing this, then maybe one day no one would have to suffer anymore."
