Battle Creek man arrested after police chase
REED CITY — A 38-year-old Battle Creek man was arrested Sunday after leading Reed City Police officers on a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle.
Officers were called for a vehicle driving all over the road on northbound U.S. 131. They located the vehicle inside Reed City limits and attempted to perform a traffic stop when the vehicle fled.
The driver crashed near the ramp for exit 176 and then fled the vehicle on foot. Troopers from the Michigan State Police deployed a Taser, and the subject was taken into custody. The driver was operating a stolen vehicle from Battle Creek and had placed an improper license plate on the vehicle.
He was charged with fleeing and eluding police, operating while intoxicated third offense, driving while license suspended second offense, possession of marijuana as well as an outstanding warrant for probation violation. The man was lodged in the Osceola County Jail without further incident.
Officers were assisted by the Michigan State Police, Wexford County Sheriff’s Office and the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
The name of the subject is being withheld pending arraignment.
