A barn fire that started around 11:15 p.m. on Oct. 3 on Meceola road in Osceola County has been designated as a total loss. No one was hurt during the fire. Personnel from the Reed City, Lincoln township, Evart and Big Rapids fire departments helped dowse the flames. Osceola ems was also at the scene to tend to any potential injuries.
The barn belonged to Maynard Bluhm who had just gone to bed a few minutes prior to the fire and was woke by a neighbor. Upon arrival of emergency responders, the south end of the barn was engulfed in flame and the roof was beginning to cave in. The fire spread to the rest of the structure and is responsible for destroying thousands of dollars in equipment, including three tractors and two hay balers.
