Students, teachers kick off new school year

OSCEOLA COUNTY — Students at area school districts had to shake off their memories of summer vacation during the last week.

Evart Public Schools started the new school year on Thursday, Aug. 25, and Reed City Area Public Schools began the 2016-17 year on Monday, Aug. 29.

Throughout the many school buildings were tear-filled goodbyes for some students and parents, hallways flooded with students carrying new backpacks and school supplies, introductions to new friends and teachers and familiar faces of classmates, teachers, support staff and administrators.

Students will have Friday, Sept. 2, and Monday, Sept. 5, off for Labor Day. Classes resume Tuesday, Sept. 6.
