OSCEOLA COUNTY — Keep those vocal chords warm during the upcoming cooler months by participating in the “Glory in the Highest” Christmas cantata, sponsored by the Evart Free Methodist Church.

Anyone high school age and up is welcome to join in the fun. Jim Whitten, director of the Community Chorus, will be directing this all-community venture. “Glory in the Highest - A New Hallelujah,” created by Gary Rhodes and Claire Cloninger, is filled with traditional carols and medleys, creative arrangements of Christmas favorites, and new music that’s sure to become special to those who sing it, as well as to those who listen.

The music is arranged for Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass chorus. There are also opportunities for soloists, duets, and narration. Favorites include: “O Come All Ye Faithful,” “Infant Holy, Infant Lowly,” “O Holy Night,” and “Joy to the World.”

Rehearsals will be held on Tuesdays, starting Sept. 20, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., at the Evart Free Methodist Church, located at 6151 - 95th Avenue, just across the street from the Osceola County Fairgrounds. The final day to sign up will be Oct. 4.

Two performances will be held on December 4, one in the afternoon and one in the evening. One of the performances will be at the Evart Free Methodist Church.

A cantata book and rehearsal CD will be provided with a $20 per person fee. There is a discount for families with more than one singer from the same household.

Plan now to make this Christmas season a special one by joining with others, singing the songs of Jesus. Please contact the Evart Free Methodist Church at (231) 734-3001 or Cindy at (231) 734-5485 with any questions.
