Annual Evart Chamber Flea Market draws a crowd

EVART — Some area residents kicked off the Memorial Day weekend a little early looking for deals.

Hundreds descended upon the Evart Municipal Airport on Friday, May 26, as the annual Evart Chamber Flea Market opened.

Several of the more than 20 vendors were still clearing away the tarps as savvy shoppers began looking through tools, DVDs, toys, clothes, books, ammo, knives and more.

"We're looking for deals," said Michael White, who made the trip from Reed City with his friend Bradley Kempisty. "We've come every year for the past six years to the flea market."

"Whatever stands out and catches our attention, that's what we're looking for," Kempisty added.

Sharon Busard had never attended the annual flea market before Friday.

"I actually saw it on Facebook and decided to come," she said.

Busard, and her husband, Kurt, both arrived looking for particular items.

"I'm actually looking for a vanity for the bathroom, something made of wood, or even a dresser," she said. "We're also looking for some bedside tables."

Kurt added he was keeping an eye out for birdhouses, from which there were many to choose.

The annual Evart Chamber Flea Market continued Saturday, at the airport.
