Annual Evart Car show set to go

EVART – Last year was tough.

Planners for the 2010 Evart Car Show kept a weather eye on the sky leading up to the event. Things looked iffy.

And ... despite decidedly cool, occasionally blustery, and somewhat soggy condition, the annual Labor Day weekend Car Show sponsored by the Evart Car Club came off with spirited participation being as high as ever.

This year, the weather may again determine numbers, but whatever the case will certainly not dampen enthusiasm.

It should be a decent weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms Friday, but it will be mostly sunny with a high near 89. Friday evening, there remains a chance of showers and thunderstorms. It’ll be mostly cloudy with a low around 67.

Saturday there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms, but weather predictors this far out are saying it looks to be partly sunny with a high near 81.

The 18th annual Evart Car Show will be a festive farewell to summertime activities in Evart. The event attracts car lovers from all over the state and further afield as well.

Last year, as a direct result of questionable weather, participation was a bit lower than in years past. Nevertheless, there were close to 150 entries lined up on the lawn at Riverside Park under spreading shade trees by noon.

And there was a lot of fun …

On Saturday at the park, music boomed out over the park as folks admired the displayed vehicles.

It was a great weekend for a great outing.

This year there will be much more of the same.

As previously noted in this newspaper, Friday evening, the Evart Car Club will kickoff and weekend of activity with the first Evart Street Cruize. Those taking part will meet at the Ventra parking lot, (Evart Products), at 6 p.m. to begin a tour around the countryside.

Registration actually begins at 5 p.m., (and preregistration isn’t required.)

Cars will leave Evart, loop around Chippewa Lake, and end up back in Evart after a beautiful drive through the late summer-early autumn landscape.

Then, on Saturday, Riverside Park West will begin filling with great examples of automotive art early, and car lovers will be able to enjoy the day, a stunning selection of cars, and a good offering of goodies while celebrating the annual Evart car Show.

A good time is expected for all.
