REED CITY — Registration is now open for the 10th Annual Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital 5K & Walk on Saturday, Aug. 16.

The annual event takes runners and walkers through the parks and streets of Reed City, with the finish line located behind the hospital. This year, event organizers are excited to offer chip timing for runners. A chip in each runner’s bib will record their time instantly as they cross the finish line.

The cost to participate is $20 for pre-registered runners and $25 for day of the race entries. Tshirts are guaranteed for all pre-registered 5K runners. Participation in the Walk is free, but the registration fee is required to receive a T-shirt. Trophies and medals will be awarded for first, second and third place male and female finishers in the following categories: ages 0-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 plus years.

Registered runners can pick up their race packets early from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 15, in the lobby of Reed City Family Practice to save valuable time on race day.

The first 75 participants to pick up their packets will receive a special 10th anniversary souvenir.

The event is sponsored by Mosaic Potash Hersey. Additional race sponsorship packages are available to local businesses. Last year, more than 200 runners participated in the event. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Susan P. Wheatlake Regional Cancer Center.
