ATV driver airlifted to Traverse City after crash in Osceola County

SHERMAN TWP.  — Two people were injured in an ATV accident on Labor Day in Osceola County.

Around 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Osceola County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a single vehicle ATV accident on 23 Mile Road near 130th Avenue in Sherman Township. The accident occurred when the ATV loss control and struck a tree.

The driver and passenger, both from Ohio, were ejected. The driver was flown to Traverse City for medical treatment. The passenger sustained minor injuries. The driver and passenger were not wearing helmets and speed is believed to be a contributing factor.

Alcohol or drugs did not appear to be factors in the crash. The crash remains under investigation by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

Tustin Rescue, along with the Osceola County EMS, assisted the sheriff’s office at the scene.
