ACE Hardware store holds soft opening in Reed City

Grand opening set for Dec. 10-11

REED CITY — After three months of construction and mounting local anticipation, the new ACE Hardware store recently opened its doors for the first time.

Although it was technically a “soft opening,” store manager Byron Clouse said he was happy to see appreciative and eager customers from an appreciative community pull into the parking lot for opening day on Thursday, Dec. 2.

“The city was amazing to work with, so was the building department,” Clouse said. “It feels good. You spend a lot of time, money and effort, and to be able to turn the lights on and see people walk through the door is great.”

Clouse said close to 40 people were there in the morning waiting to pay the store their first visit as time drew closer to flipping on the opening sign.

The Clouse family originally hails from Glennie, located in Alcona County. Reed City is their 12th ACE Hardware store.

As far as picking a town for their 12th store, Clouse said Reed City was a relative no-brainer.

“We knew there was a need for an ACE Hardware store in town,” Clouse said. “We’ve been received extremely well. You could tell this town wanted a hardware store.”

The new store is family-owned, which is one of the reasons why Clouse initially thought Reed City would be a good location for an ACE Hardware.

For the Clouse family, maintaining quality customer service in a positive, helpful environment has always been and will remain a top priority.

“It’s a big hardware store for a small town, and it’s clean, neat and friendly (and) well-lit,” Clouse said.

The grand-opening event is expected to take place Dec. 10-11.
