4-H kids help out at Spectrum

REED CITY — The Rambling Riders 4-H Club of Stanwood volunteered their time on Saturday, Feb. 26 to compile colorectal cancer awareness literature for Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital Cancer Services. Over 2000 pieces of literature needed to be sorted and assembled into packets in time for March Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. The completed packets will be distributed throughout all of Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital locations including Reed City, Evart and Tustin to create awareness of the signs and symptoms of the disease.

After the project was completed, cancer services director Irene Balowski took the club on a tour of Crossroads Radiation Therapy Center detailing how cancer treatment planning is accomplished and how radiation therapy is delivered via the linear accelerator.
