REED CITY — Christmas cheer spread throughout Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital's Rehab and Nursing Center on Dec. 19, as residents received a number of gifts from members of the Osceola County Community Foundation Youth Advisory Council.

Using $400, the group shopped for items the center needed, including radios and CD players, board games, kitchen items and more. After each gift was wrapped, YAC members and Reed City High School students Alaina Woodard, Kris Kellogg and Velvet Burthardt and advisor Larry Neiderheide presented the items and spent some time talking to the residents while they opened what was inside.

In the past, the group has given to families in need, but this year, they discovered a need in the hospital facility, said Neiderheide. It's fun to give back and watch the youth present the residents with the gifts, he added.

School districts including Pine River, Evart and Marion also will participate in giving back before the year's end.
