2012 Habitat for Humanity golf scramble is June 13

CANADIAN LAKES — Registration is open for the Mecosta County Habitat for Humanity’s annual golf scramble.

The 2012 golf outing begins with a shotgun start at 11:30 a.m. on June 13 at The Royal golf course in Canadian Lakes. Registration the day of the event will start at 10:30 a.m.

The cost to participate in the benefit is $80 per person, which includes golf, use of a cart, coffee and doughnuts and dinner. Sponsorship tee and event patron signs also are available for $50 and $25, respectively. All proceeds from the event will benefit Mecosta County Habitat for Humanity.

The local Habitat for Humanity affiliate was founded in 1992, and built its first home in 1994. Since then, the organization has completed 29 homes for lower income families in Mecosta County.

Each home was built using local funds and then provided to the owner with a no-interest mortgage. The local affiliate plans to complete two homes in 2012, and identify a family for its next home.

The local group also is looking for silent auction items of $25 and up, door prizes of $50 dollars and up and live auction items of $250 and up for the golf event.
