To the editor:

January is School Board Recognition Month. A time to acknowledge the work of our volunteer school board members and to celebrate public education.

School board members have a tough job developing policies and making decisions that help shape the future of our education system. They also bear the responsibility for our students, employees, facilities, and budgets. In addition, board members are citizens who dedicate countless personal hours to positively impact our children and build our communities.

Showing appreciation for the important work of school boards should be a year-round process, but too often we neglect to recognize the dedication and hard work of those who have been elected to represent us. This January, I invite all members of the community to take a moment and thank a school board member.

We extend our sincere gratitude to: Derrick Bookwalter, Dan Boyer, James Dawson, Craig Goodman, Ross Momany, Tricia Wirth and Kathy Yost, as well as past members who served our district over the years.

Sincerely,

Tim Webster, Superintendent
