Weekend hosts Evergreen Festival

REED CITY — Each year, hundreds make a point to enjoy what the annual Reed City Evergreen Festival has to offer with friends and family members. This year's event will take place on Friday, Nov. 27, and Saturday, Nov. 28.

The annual arts and crafts show will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days of the festival. More than 100 booths and vendors will line Reed City High School hallways, cafeteria and gymnasium, offering items and gifts for friends and family of all ages. Concessions also will be available during the event.

Saturday will feature the Evergreen Festival Parade at 1 p.m., which will travel through downtown. Making one of their first pre-Christmas stops in Michigan, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be in attendance, along with their reindeer. This year’s theme is “Winter Wonderland.” Groups or individuals looking to take part can line up at 12:30 p.m. at the corners of Sears and Franklin streets. To register for the parade, visit reedcity.org for an entry form.

Always a big hit, Santa and Mrs. Claus will make a stop at the Reed City Depot following the parade. Their reindeer also will be available for viewing, and families can warm up inside the building and decorate Christmas cookies while sipping hot cocoa.

Saturday evening at 7 p.m., musicians Pam Bowman and Jeff Gardner will lead an Old Fashion Christmas Sing-Along activity at the Crossroads Theatre Guild’s performing arts center, located on the corner of Park Street and Upton Avenue across from the Osceola County Courthouse.
