Scarecrow contest returns to Evart Farmers Market

EVART — Fall fun will mix with feeding local families this month at the final gathering of Evart Farmers Market for the year.

The third annual scarecrow contest will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, at the market located at the Evart Depot. There, the scarecrows will be on display for market attendees to view and vote by placing a non-perishable food item at the base. The food will benefit the Sears Food Pantry. The cost to participate in the contest is $10.

"I think it's a fun event for businesses and organizations to be a part of and for people who want to get creative with it," Moyer said. "I did it with my family and my children loved helping out."

The scarecrow with the most votes will win a prize for first place. Second and third place winners also will receive prizes.

Following the market event, the scarecrows will be on display downtown until Sunday, Nov. 1. Therefore, scarecrows must be made out of sturdy, non-perishable materials and be family friendly.
