GRANT AWARD: United States Department of Agriculture State Director James Turner (left) and area specialist Valarie Handy (right), present a grant to library supporter Christine Cox and Reed City Area District Library Director Heather Bassett during an announcement on Dec. 15.
The Reed City Area District Library (RCADL) was awarded matching grant funds from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development in the amount of $7,500.
Through special rules and restrictions, the library was able to claim $7,500 of the $75,000 equipment grant money the RCADL lost when the millage failed in August. A total of $10,000 worth of media equipment and furniture was purchased and will be used at the 410 W. Upton location until funds can be raised to renovate the 829 S. Chestnut location. A list of items purchased can be viewed at the library. (Herald Review photo/Karin Armbruster)
