Pine River hosts Kindergarten Round-Up

Submitted to the Herald Review

LEROY — Kindergarten Round-Up at Pine River Area Schools will take place at Pine River Area Elementary School on Friday, April 22.

The purpose of Round-Up is to provide an opportunity for staff to learn as much as they can about each child before school begins in September. By law, students entering kindergarten in the 2016-17 school year must be 5 years of age on or before Sept. 1, 2016.

There will be only one Round-Up day scheduled and assessment screenings will be held by appointment only. The assessment is a tool to help RPAS educators know where each child is developmentally. Certified teachers and paraprofessionals will be supervising the assessments.

Parents do not need to study with their child prior to the assessment, but they must present their child’s immunization record and an official birth certificate at the time of Round-Up. Hospital birth certificates are not acceptable.

Parents should contact the elementary school office at (231) 768-4481 to request a registration form and have their child’s name placed on an appointment list. A letter will be sent to each home to confirm an appointment time.

For questions regarding Round-Up, contact Jaime Heuker, Pine River Area Elementary principal, at (231) 768-4481.
