My mom recently received an iPad. She had figured out how to put addresses and her calendar into it … and that’s it. She knew there must be more, but had no idea how to access it.

I, on the other hand, saw it, immediately turned it on and was busy trying to find an internet connection. In no time I had an account opened for my mom and was busy downloading apps. Of course, we had to start with ones my two year old niece would enjoy; but then added a few my mom may appreciate. Her iPad went from an oversized day planner to a useful tool that will continue to improve as she spends more time adding apps and learning how to use them.

Our lives are like that iPad. We know how to make it through and even enjoy life. There are many things we use to occupy our time, but is it really complete or is there something more?

Christ said in John 10:10, “I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”

Christ came to give us an abundant and full life. He provides something more. However, that may not look like we expect. My mom may have expected a “full” iPad to mean it had all the contact information she needed already in it, but that still wouldn’t be everything it had to offer. She needed someone who knew how to do it.

To really know what life has to offer I need to look to the One who knows all life has to offer. 2 Timothy 3:16 tells us that the Bible “is God-breathed and useful one way or another—showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way.”

The techie that knows an iPad inside and out can show you its full potential. The God that knows your life inside and out can show you its full potential. Spend time with the One who knows how to live.
