PASTOR'S PEN: Seeing the Father

One of my favorite images is seeing those videos online and on the news of a little kid in their classroom. They’re gathered with all of their friends enjoying some activity. The teacher then points behind them. With wonderment on their face, they turn. There stands a man dressed in military uniform who has just returned from months or years away from his family. The child’s face turns to one of joyful tears and they run into the arms of their father.

You’ve certainly seen those images on your TV and maybe you rejoiced along with that child. They have been looking forward to this moment for so long, uncertain of when or if it would ever happen. I wonder if we have that same anticipation as we look forward to seeing our Father in heaven. Will we run into His arms? Will we fall at His feet? Will we stand in awe, unable to move? I don’t know for certain. What I do know is that if you are “really among those God has called and chosen…then God will give you a grand entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” (1 Peter 1:10-11)

Are you among the called and chosen? Are you looking forward to seeing the Father? If the answer is ‘yes’, then live as a child of God.
