PASTOR'S PEN: Identify your driver
One of the identifying marks of a NASCAR driver is the main sponsor on his car. Every NASCAR fan knows that Jimmy Johnson drives the Lowes machine, Kyle Busch has M&Ms on his car and Joey Logano is the Shell/Pennzoil driver. Each NASCAR star is known by his or her main sponsor. They also have many other sponsors covering the sides, back and even the inside of the car. Every driver – and car owner – desires to have those sponsors on the car. It brings in money to make better cars, pay their employees and improve their racing program.
One day those who know Christ will look like NASCAR cars with identifiable marks. Revelation 19:7-8 says this:
“Let us rejoice and be glad and give Him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and His bride has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear. (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of the saints.)”
One day those who know Christ will have their righteous acts wrapped around them like sponsor stickers on a race car. Those things that were selflessly given for God’s glory and the aid of others will be used to bring honor and reward to those who served faithfully. They will be identifying marks of their loyalty to the King of Kings.
If you know Christ as Savior, how will you look? Will you be like an unsponsored race car with nothing to show your Lord or will you be like a well-sponsored machine covered with so many righteous acts that it will be hard to read them all? Live in light of the wedding to come. Make yourself ready.
