Native plant presentation and sale slated for June 5

REED CITY — The Osceola-Lake and Mecosta Conservation Districts are hosting their annual native plant presentation and sale from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 5, at the Reed City Depot, featuring “Michigan Native Plants for Pollinator Habitat.”

Patricia Ruta McGhan, a botanist for the U.S. Forest Service, will speak about why it is important to the ecosystem at large to use Michigan native plants, why pollinators have been having problems and are at risk, how to add native plants to the landscape and how to create a pollinator habitat. A native plant sale will follow from 5 to 7 p.m.
