EVART — Parents who need a little extra help in the kitchen have an opportunity to improve with the help of Michigan State University Extension, which is hosting a free cooking and nutrition class.

The classes will take place at 5:30 p.m. each Tuesday from Sept. 1 through Oct. 6 at the Evart Free Methodist Church, located at 6153 95th Ave. Each session will be taught by a chef and nutrition instructor, and will cover topics including learning how to cook healthy meals on a budget, healthy snacks, quick and affordable recipes, how to shop smart and more.

Attendees will receive a free cookbook filled with recipes and will be able to cook their own food during classes.
