MCTE names EPS educator Crystal Nelson vice president

EVART — Crystal Nelson, a seventh and eighth grade ELA teacher at Evart Middle School, has been named vice president of the Michigan Council of Teachers of English.

Nelson most recently served as the Region IX Representative for MCTE. The goals of MCTE are to disseminate the current English education scholarship and assist English language arts teachers as they make decisions about pedagogical practices, student populations and teaching philosophies. In regards to Nelson’s selection, MCTE President Andrew Schoenborn stated that Nelson "is a wonderful candidate who advocates for English literacy across the state and in our schools."

Founded in 1924, the Michigan Council of Teachers of English is an organization for K-16 English language arts teachers and English educators in Michigan. MCTE provides professional development for English language arts teachers and English education professors throughout the state.
