SCHOLARSHIP: The Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel MARSP Chapter Osceola County Chapter recently presented a $500 scholarship to Evart High School senior, Samantha Bressler. Each year, the MARSP chapter members donate money at meetings and have an annual fundraiser to raise monies for these scholarships.

This year, the $500 scholarship was awarded to Samantha J. Bressler of Evart High School at the high school award assembly on May 28. Samantha plans to attend Ferris State University and is the daughter of Jeff and Sabrina Bressler. She will be specializing in diagnostic medical sonography and continuing to receive a bachelor's degree in health care systems management.

MARSP is a nonprofit advocacy organization founded in 1951 to protect the pensions and benefits of all Michigan public school retirees. The association provides a lobbyist to represent its members with Michigan Legislature. Members are public school retirees who may have served their school districts as instructional assistants, social workers, secretaries, media specialists, custodians, bus drivers, teachers, administrators, librarians, cooks, lunch and playground supervisors and specialists. Any public school retiree can be a member of MARSP. Members may serve on local and state committees that provide benefits to members. (courtesy photo)
