Local man ordained
REED CITY — Answering the call of God on his life, a former Reed City man recently entered the ministry.
On Dec. 15, Jason Toman was ordained as a minister of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, and installed as Assistant Pastor of St. Michael Lutheran Church in Portage.
Growing up in Reed City, Toman attended Trinity Lutheran Church and also Trinity Lutheran School from kindergarten through eighth grade. He felt a strong sense of God’s call on his life in 1995 after attending a National Youth Gathering in San Antonio.
Toman met his wife, Sernina, at Western Michigan University. They were both musicians and leaders at the university’s InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. The pair married in 200 and have two daughters, Maya and Ellery and three sons, Asher, Callan and Silas.
As a pastor, Jason will continue to lead the church’s contemporary Sunday evening FUSE service and expects to take on additional responsibilites upon the completion of his remaining year and a half of courses at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Mo.
