Johnson-Noreen reunion held in Reed City

FAMILY REUNION: Descendants of Erick Magnus Johnson and Lars Noreen families came together at Rambadt Park on Saturday, Aug. 16, to celebrate over 100 years since the families were first joined together by marriage between a Johnson and a Noreen in 1910. In the late 1800s, the Noreen and Johnson families established farms in Lincoln and Pinora townships, respectively. Four Johnson sisters married two Noreen brothers, one Noreen cousin and one Anderson cousin who was a descendant of a Noreen. Both the Johnson and Noreen families immigrated from Sweden.

An ancestry bingo game, two interactive blood line charts and a plethora of family photos dating back to the early days were the main focus of the event. A number of cousins met for the first time as they added their names to the six-generational family tree. Attendees ranged in age from 8 to 91. A delicious pot luck dinner was enjoyed by all. In addition to varying locations in Michigan, relatives in attendance came from as far away as Florida, Arizona and California. (Courtesy photo)
