Genealogical Society hosts weekend workshops

REED CITY — Members of the Osceola County Genealogical Society welcome those interested in family history to two weekend classes occurring next month.

The workshops will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6, and Saturday, Feb. 13. The deadline to register for the event is Wednesday, Jan. 27, at Reed City Middle School. The cost is $12 per session.

"It'll be a workshop on finding your own family history using the forms a genealogist would use," said Debra Miller-Tossey, Osceola County Genealogical Society co-president. "It's going to be very hands-on."

The first class will discuss how to start researching family history, while the second class will include free use of the internet for further research.

Miller-Tossey believes the sessions will be a great option for people who want to start genealogy, but have no idea where to begin.

"We're hoping for a good turn out," she added.
