EVART — For the past 20 years, Debra Vincent (EHS, ’81) has been positively influencing the lives of her students in the Evart Public School District.

This year the fifth/sixth grade math teacher from Evart Middle School has been selected as the OPIE Award winner for the 2015-16 school year. The following is an excerpt from her qualifying award nomination:

"The atmosphere in Mrs. Vincent’s classroom and the teaching/learning going on in this environment is one of the reasons she is so highly admired. The concern and care that she takes to individualize relationships with each and every student makes her among the best of our educators. She not only teaches in her assigned grade levels, but she also works with students from other grade levels as a math support specialist. Mrs. Vincent can be found after school tutoring not only her assigned students, but also students from former years. The students and their parents see her for expert help. She shows dedication and commitment to the students by partnering with their parents in order to have a great relationship between home and school. Mrs. Vincent’s professionalism is beyond measure."
