Diabetes PATH workshop offered in Evart

EVART — Diabetes affects many people, and without treatment or awareness it can become worse.

Michigan State University Extension and the Osceola County Commission on Aging are partnering to offer a free six-week Diabetes PATH (Personal Action Toward Health) workshop at the COA building in Evart.

PATH is an evidence-based program created by Stanford University for adults with type 2 diabetes and is open to family, friends, caregivers and anyone wishing to learn more about managing the disease.

The class will meet from 1 to 3:30 p.m. on Mondays, including March 29, April 5, April 12, April 19, April 29 and May 3.

The workshop will assist participants in managing their diabetes and taking control of their health. Participants will learn ways to deal with the symptoms of the disease, understand emotions, develop healthy eating habits and talk with health care providers about diabetes.

Seating is limited and reservations are required. For more information or to reserve a space, call the Commission on Aging at (231) 734-5559.
