Centennial Farm group welcomes public to annual meeting

REED CITY — Members of the Osceola County Area Centennial Farm group are gathering soon for their annual meeting and potluck, and extend an invitation to others.

The annual Osceola Area Centennial Farm Fest will take place from 12:30 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11, at the Reed City Depot. Group member Jaylayne Markey said individuals or families who are interested in farm heritage or who own younger farms are welcome to attend.

"We get together for a potluck lunch, we have a business meeting and then we have speakers," Markey said.

Farmers Greg and Kathleen Adams, of the Chippewa Lake area, will speak about their farm, which was certified as a centennial farm in 2013. The pair will give a presentation about the farm, its history, and the additions and renovation efforts completed in recent year.

"It should be a fun event and motivating for us to see what can be done to renovate a farm now," Markey added.

She said though the group's title says Osceola County, farmers from around the area are welcome to become members.
