OSCEOLA COUNTY — Snow may be on the ground and summer vacation is a ways off, but area school districts are trying to connect with the families of next year’s kindergartners.

All the local districts have scheduled their kindergarten round-up events and invite parents and families to come see what their schools have to offer.

Evart Public Schools

Evart Elementary School will host kindergarten roundup at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, at the school, located at 515 N. Cedar St., Evart.

There will be a chance to meet teachers, tour the school and watch a short presentation along with registration.

Parents in attendance should bring a copy of their child’s birth certificate, immunization records and proof of residency, such as a driver’s license. Parents who are unable to attend should call the school at (231) 734-5595.

Pine River Area Schools

Pine River Area Elementary School's kindergarten round-up will take place by appointment only on Friday, April 22. The school is located at 408 W. Gilbert St. in LeRoy.

During the event, assessment screenings will take place. According to Pine River Area Elementary officials, The assessment is a tool to help its educators know where each child is developmentally. Certified teachers and paraprofessionals will be supervising the assessments. Parents do not need to study with their child prior to the assessment.

Parents must present their child’s immunization record and an official birth certificate at the time of round-up. Hospital birth certificates are not acceptable.

Students entering Kindergarten in the 2016-17 school year must be 5 years of age on or before Sept. 1, 2016.

To request a registration form and have a child’s name placed on the appointment list, contact the elementary school office at (231) 768-4481. Parents will receive a letter in April to confirm an appointment time.

Reed City Area Public Schools

GT Norman Elementary School in Reed City will host its kindergarten round-up at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15. The school is located at 338 W. Lincoln Ave., Reed City.

Parents in attendance should bring a copy of their child’s birth certificate, immunization records and proof of residency, such as a driver’s license. Parents who are unable to attend should call the school at (231) 832-5548.
