Pastor's Pen: Choose today, life or death

How do we start our day? Is it in ‘faith’ having our strength in Jesus, or is it going to be in ‘fear’ created by the flesh? With our first breath upon waking up, we create our responses to the day that lies ahead!

Deuteronomy 30:15 “See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil.”

What we speak is going to affect what we reap. With every event that confronts us during the day, whether it is an attack or a blessing, all depends upon our reaction!

Here at ResLife Church, while we were in the construction phase of our addition, we had a Christian general foreman, Steve, who when a situation would arise would say ‘we have an opportunity here’ not choosing to focus on a problem.

In our homeland, we are daily faced with many opinions that involve our future to live in a free country. Does this create within us fear, or do we see an opportunity to pray, turning all things over to God, where real security is found?

Where is our focus? Is it on all of the evil in the world creating fear and division or do we unite turning to God? Jesus said, “All things are possible with God” (Matthew 19:26), after all, He knows the beginning and the end.

Today, are we standing on the ‘Promises of Jesus,' or as it was with Adam and Eve, Satan twisted the ‘truth’ causing doubt with what God had told them, their flesh was tempted and evil entered the world. When Jesus was tempted, the devil used the same tactics as he had in the past doing his best to deceive Jesus. Jesus, however, used the Word of God to resist him.

Jesus has warned us of the devil’s attempts to destroy us as individuals or as a nation founded under God. John 10:10, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I (Jesus) have come that they (us) may have life, and that they (we) may have it more abundantly.”

Beginning each new day with the opportunity to ‘Choose Today Life or Death’ let’s, with the authority given to us, use the Name of Jesus and take hold of every opportunity to rebuke fear, then stand on our solid ‘Rock’, Jesus!
